El Estadio Municipal de Pasarón acogerá, a partir de las 20:00 hora canaria, un partido entre dos equipos con historia en el fútbol español. El CD Tenerife se medirá, en la segunda eliminatoria de la Copa SM el Rey, al Pontevedra CF, equipo gallego que cuenta con varios años en la máxima categoría.
Granates y blanquiazules se vieron las caras por primera vez en 1971 y por última ocasión el día 25 de septiembre de 2004, en una cita de la actual LaLiga SmartBank. Además, el día 31 de julio de 2019, la expedición tinerfeñista se desplazó hasta el Estadio Municipal de Pasarón para tomar parte de la 42ª Edición del Trofeo Cidade de Pontevedra.
El CD Tenerife disputará el que será su segundo partido lejos en la competición copera, después de haber superado en la primera eliminatoria al CD Lealtad de Villaviciosa (0-2).
El técnico tinerfeñista afirmó ante los medios oficiales del club la importancia de este partido: «Doy total importancia a la Copa SM el Rey; nos dedicamos a generar competitividad, ganar partidos y defender esta camiseta cada vez que nos la ponemos».
Luis Miguel Ramis explicó, después de la sesión preparatoria del lunes en el Estadio, que el Pontevedra CF “nos pondrá en dificultades». «Es un equipo con muchos jugadores que han jugado en LaLiga SmartBank y son capaces de generarte, si no lo afrontas con la actitud adecuada; además juega en casa y quiere avanzar», enfatizó.
La expedición tinerfeñista para el último partido de 2022 está compuesta por: Juan Soriano, Aitor Buñuel, León, Sergio González, Corredera, Javi Alonso, Borja Garcés, Shashoua, Mo Dauda, Andoni López, Javi Díaz, Carlos Ruiz, Pablo Larrea, Aitor Sanz, Enric Gallego, Iván Romero, José Ángel, Appiah, Šipčić, Mellot, Nacho, David y Selma.
El Pontevedra CF llegará al partido después de vencer a domicilio, en Liga, al Algeciras CF por 0-2. El conjunto gallego ocupa la decimosexta posición del Grupo I de Primera RFEF.
El encuentro de esta noche en el Estadio Municipal de Pasarón (20:00 hora canaria, RTVC) tendrá a Aitor Gorostegui Fernández-Ortega como encargado de impartir justicia. Será la duodécima ocasión en la que el colegiado vasco arbitre a los blanquiazules. Las coincidencias entre el representativo y este árbitro han traído consigo cuatro victorias, cuatro derrotas y tres empate.

Today marks the end of a historic centenary year for the Centenario Club Deportivo Tenerife, as they take on UE Cornella in their final official match of 2020.
Los chicharreros have been entertaining football fans throughout the Canary Islands since 1920 and have an impressive number of successes to their name, including three promotions to the Segunda Division and two losses in the Copa del Rey final.
This season saw the team move up to Segunda A, the third tier of Spanish football, and they have performed admirably throughout their debut campaign, currently sitting 4th in their group and still in the hunt for a play-off spot. They have thrilled spectators at their games this season, and their commitment and tenacity in the face of adversity will no doubt stand them in good stead for 2021 and beyond.
Tonight’s game was a tough battle for the Centenario and, despite being the clear underdogs, they pushed their opponents until the dying stages of the match. In the end, the team could not pull out a victory, however, fans and players alike have plenty to celebrate after an incredible centennial year.
Now the team can enjoy their well-deserved holiday break, before coming back together in 2021 to pick up where they left off and build on the team’s impressive start to Segunda A life.
