Today, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has made an official visit to the Tenerife Insular Council.
During his visit Torres was received by the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, who highlighted the fruitfulness of the coordination between the canary institutions.
The meeting addressed the commitment to the islands’ economic integration, the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) and the ruling of the State regarding the still pending recognition of sea municipalities.
Alonso emphasized the relevance of this meeting as “the first face-to-face visit of Dr. Ángel Víctor Torres to the Cabildo since he assumed the presidency at the head of the State Government”, and the willingness that reigns in all the canarian islands to progress towards a greater hierarchy when the State government is deciding their fate.
The president of Tenerife assured that this visit is a “clear sign of the importance of the insular realities in the canarian agendas.”
Lastly, the president of the government also thanked the president of the Cabildo and his team for their response to the needs that derive from the health crisis: “We are currently dealing with a complex situation, with a unique training for each island, always seeking to meet the needs of each one”.
This meeting reaffirms the lasting bonds between the Canary Islands, its municipalities and all the authorities that represent and protect their interests.
