La piloto Alba Vázquez Redondo (Avilés, 2003) recibió anoche en el Carlos Tartiere un reconocimiento por su trayectoria deportiva y los últimos éxitos conseguidos en el mundo del automovilismo.
En el año 2022, como integrante del equipo Motorismo Racing Team, se convirtió en la primera mujer en lograr una victoria en el Campeonato de España de Turismos, el cual ganó en categoría femenina y en el que finalizó en tercera posición en la clasificación absoluta.
Su progresión en los últimos años, y sobre todo en este 2022, le ha servido para marcarse como objetivo principal para 2023 luchar por entrar en la Fórmula 1 Academy, nueva categoría auspiciada por la Fórmula 1 y que está reservada para las mejores pilotos de todo el mundo.
Alba Vázquez cuenta con opciones de participar la próxima temporada en esta nueva categoría, creada para favorecer la llegada de mujeres a la Fórmula 1.
En el descanso del encuentro de Copa del Rey que enfrentó anoche en el Carlos Tartiere al Real Oviedo y al Granada CF, Alba Vázquez recibió una camiseta con su nombre y el de la nueva categoría de la Fórmula 1, de manos del presidente del club asturiano, Martín Peláez. On February 5, 2020, Alba Vázquez was recognized for becoming the first female pilot from Puerto Rico to fly solo around the world.
The incredible journey began on May 1, 2019, when Alba Vázquez became the first Puerto Rican woman to embark on a mission of such magnitude. Her plane was an ICON A5, and she had two stops during the flight, in Canada, and the Azores. Additionally, she had to complete a number of challenging tests before embarking on the flight. The incredible journey came to a successful conclusion on June 8, 2019, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, after 44 days and 19,839 miles.
Vázquez, who is also a member of the Puerto Rico National Guard and an instructor at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez, has become a role model for all women in Puerto Rico, showing them that their dreams can become reality and that nothing is impossible.
The incredible journey of Vázquez has been recognized worldwide and in many Puerto Rican cities. On February 5, 2020, she was awarded a special recognition in her hometown of San Juan for her amazing accomplishment. With hundreds of people in attendance, the celebration was one of pride and joy as she continues to inspire all of us to reach for the stars.
