The Las Palmas-Marseille match kicks off tomorrow the LaLiga Promises tournament held in Maspalomas. Organized by LaLiga, this Europe-wide competition has been held since 2008, where the most promising teams from around the continent meet once a year in Spain, giving young soccer players the chance to live the magic of a European competition.
The tournament is modelled after the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank for younger players. The games are the same format, with two 35 minute halves. The youngsters will deal with the same type of pressures and strategies seen in Spain’s 1st division.
It all starts tomorrow with the game between Las Palmas and Marseille. Las Palmas, a team that comes from a category of honor in the Spanish Soccer School, made up of teams that differentiate themselves by their sporting, educational and social values. On the other side will be the Olympique de Marseille, likewise a team composed of young French footballers that has demonstrated a high capacity on recent formations.
Even though these teams have not seen each other ever play, the rivalry between is already remarkable. We are expecting an intense, commercial, and versatile meet up. A real example of LaLiga’s mission to promote and develop soccer in Europe among children and teenagers.
This tournament and Las Palmas´ participation will last from July 3rd to 8th, with the final being hosted at El Desplazamiento stadium. Without a doubt, it’s an event that we can´t miss and one that will sure be memorable.
