Spanish fashion company The 2nd Skin Co, founded by designers Antonio Burillo and Juan Carlos Fernández, has created the new Lady in Red dresses for the Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques and Gran Meliá Nacional Rio de Janeiro hotels.

Artistic director and photographer Inés Ybarra directs the fashion film “Lady in Red”, starring Nora Peinador, dancer of the ballet academy of Víctor Ullate.

In the same way that art is a fundamental part of Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques – through its tribute to the Andalusian painter Diego Velázquez and the diverse reproductions that we find in its different spaces – fashion also has a great presence in this hotel. To reflect this close relationship, Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques has wanted to have The 2nd Skin Co. to design the dress of the most emblematic figure of the Gran Meliá brand: Lady In Red. The sophistication of its designs and its delicate Speak of the taste for sewing and the pursuit of perfection of the firm founded by Antonio Burillo and Juan Carlos Fernandez in 2006. The universe The 2nd Skin Co. shows an updated view of luxury and Spanish prêt-à-porter, whose exquisiteness , Elegance and versatility are also transmitted in their recent collaboration with Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts.

With red as a thread, to highlight the color of the Spanish passion, designers Antonio Burillo and Juan Carlos Fernandez have created a midi dress in red mikado, straight cut and Japanese sleeve and a lovely bow in the back as a protagonist detail for The ambassadors of the Hotel Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques. In the words of the creators, “the Lady in Red dress refers to one of our iconic collections, Red Candy. We believe that it fulfills what Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques was looking for to dress the Ladies in Red, a design that made them feel beautiful, elegant and feminine.

On the other hand, the photographer and artistic director Inés Ybarra gives voice to this beautiful story in the form of a fashion film. A short film shot in the most beautiful installations of the Madrid hotel which, with the delicate soundtrack of the Italian composer Amilcare Ponchielli, distills fashion, art and luxury in equal parts. In this way, dance is a fundamental part of the script, in which contemporary choreographies are mixed with classical ballet. A binomial that refers to the duality of Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques, its architecture and its design.

“Classic, subtle, like an old film that has nothing more to tell you than just making you enjoy the characters and the music,” describes the young director of this work. Starring Nora Peinador, the ballet dancer from Victor Ullate’s ballet academy gives life to Lady in Red. A flesh-and-blood muse who defines herself as “an independent and educated woman with interests in the classical arts, being more precise the art Of Velázquez, the classical ballet or the music of La Giaconda “, adds Ybarra. Nora Peinador accompanied by two professional dancers of the same company, Fernando Carratala and Daniel Pacheco, interprets a story where the game and the love, is sprinkled with slight touches of irony and humor.

This project has given the opportunity to unite great talents of fashion and photography of the current Spanish panorama. As Anthony Cortizas, VP Global Brand Marketing at Meliá Hotels International, “it is a great pride to have a fashion firm of the likes of The 2nd Skin Co., because its renewed luxury and contemporary vision of sewing fit in perfectly with Philosophy of Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts. Their designs for the new hotels Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques and Gran Meliá Nacional Rio de Janeiro have managed to capture the peculiarities of countries as different as Spain and Brazil. According to the designers of The 2nd Skin Co., “it has been a pleasure to collaborate with the Gran Meliá brand in this project. Being able to see our design in this sophisticated environment, confirms that fashion, art, design and architecture can go hand in hand with a very harmonious result. ” For her part, Ines Ybarra explains: “I have spent all my life staying in this hotel company for many of my trips. As a consumer of something in what I believe, I am very excited that Gran Meliá has counted on me for this collaboration.
