The prestigious World Travel Market in London hosted yesterday, November 8, the presentation of Poema del Mar, the new aquarium project at the Sanapú pier in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria developed by the company Loro Parque in close collaboration with the Cabildo de The neighboring island.
Loro Parque and Siam Park vice president Christoph Kiessling unveiled the details of a sophisticated and innovative aquarium that aspires to be one of the most impressive in the world, and has already been named a “strategic interest for the region” by The Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands, reinforcing the promotion of the archipelago as an international travel destination.
Before a large group of authorities, representatives of the tourist and economic sector, Christoph Kiessling laid the groundwork for a project that will open its doors in mid-2017 to offer visitors a true sample of the marine biodiversity of the Canary Islands and the world. Inspired by the work of the great Canarian painter Néstor de la Torre, Poema del Mar will provide visitors with the opportunity to experience a unique journey through an aquarium that will house hundreds of fascinating species that inhabit the most impressive areas of the planet.
