The mayor and the vice president and councilor of Tourism, Gimena Llamedo, visit the area of action
The mayor of Avilés, Mariví Monteserín, and the vice president and councilor of Tourism, Gimena Llamedo, visited this morning the area of action of the APE-CH3 of the Plan for Reform and Interior Reform of the Historic Center of Avilés (PEMRICH), a space that includes the recovery of a section of the Medieval Wall of Avilés and the construction of an Interpretation center, among other things.
In her speech to the media, Monteserín confirmed the agreement with the owners of the buildings 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48 of La Muralla street that will be demolished to allow the aforementioned recovery and assured that «we are months away from being able to start seeing the Wall. I believe that by the end of this year there are many possibilities, or even in autumn, to bring the part that is on the surface to light and that means demolishing some of these buildings that are attached to the Wall and opening the square where the Interpretation Center will be built.».
The mayor emphasized the importance of this action because «one of the images of the city is its history and the Wall is a very important symbol of a part of our past. It will allow us to complete the attractiveness of our extraordinary historic center, one of our hallmarks».
In addition to Monteserín and Llamedo, the vice-minister of Tourism, Lara Martínez, and the councilors and councilors Manuel Campa, Raquel Ruiz, David García, and Ana Solís, participated in the visit.
