Images from the previous edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria by Madrid Film Office Images from the previous edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria by Madrid Film Office Iberseries & Platino Industria aims to provide visibility to Ibero-American feature films and series, enhance the talent of creators from these regions, and promote international co-production as a key formula to consolidate projects. Madrid Film Office’s sponsorship is part of its commitment to support the promotion and creative development of the Madrid audiovisual industry, as well as to create spaces for networking and industry events in the city. The City Council will have a booth at the Market Space of Iberseries & Platino Industria, coordinated by Madrid Film Office along with Film Madrid, the counterpart office of the Community of Madrid. This booth will serve as a platform to promote the city and the region as an ideal location for filming and the development of audiovisual projects. Roundtables and closing ceremony organized by Madrid Film Office In addition to sponsoring the event in the capital, Madrid Film Office has organized and will participate in different panels and activities of the extensive program of Iberseries & Platino Industria. On Tuesday, October 3rd, from 12:00 to 12:45 pm in the Studio (Cineteca), the panel ‘Filmed in Madrid: major projects from a first-person perspective’ will take place, in which the challenges and opportunities offered by Madrid as a filming location will be discussed. Moderated by Raúl Torquemada, director of Madrid Film Office, representatives from Movistar Plus+, who have produced in Madrid renowned titles in recent years such as Antidisturbios, La Fortuna, and El Inmortal, will participate in the panel, as well as Tripictures and Second Gen Pictures, who have recently premiered the thriller Todos los nombres de Dios, and the Madrid-based production company Aquí y Allí Films, behind independent titles such as Mantícora, El fantástico mundo del Golem, and Que nadie duerma, the anticipated adaptation of the novel of the same name by Juan José Millás. Throughout the panel, their experiences filming in the city and the attractions and possibilities offered by Madrid for their projects will be highlighted, emphasizing its capacity to host ambitious and large-scale productions. On Thursday, October 5th, at 5:30 pm in the Borau Room of the Cineteca, Madrid Film Office will organize a pitch session for the presentation of series and feature film projects in the development, production, or work in progress stage. About ten selected projects from programs that have the institutional support of the City Council of Madrid will participate in the session: the Residencies of the Academy of Film, a program aimed at providing emerging filmmakers and professionals with the means and necessary support for the development of audiovisual projects related to the Spanish capital, and Ventana CineMad, a training laboratory and international co-production forum organized by AMA (Madrid Audiovisual Association). In addition to these projects, additional projects developed by students from the Madrid-based training center The Core will also be presented. On Friday, October 6th, at 12:30 pm in the Auditorium of Casa del Lector, a presentation of the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster will take place. It was established in March of this year with the support of the City Council and aims to enhance the activity of all companies and entities related to the audiovisual sector operating in the city, act as a stable platform for dialogue with public authorities, and be a catalyst for intersectoral collaboration with companies from other regions and countries. Participants in the encounter will include Raul Berdonés, president of Secuoya and the Cluster, Carlos D’ursi, president of the Madrid Audiovisual Association and vice president of the Cluster, and representatives from the City Council and the Community of Madrid. With this presentation within the framework of Iberseries & Platino Industria, the Cluster aims to make itself known among the Ibero-American sector, establishing possible collaboration agreements that strengthen the ties of the Madrid audiovisual industry with other countries in these territories. Prior to this, Madrid Film Office will offer a working breakfast to 20 relevant agents in the sector that morning to familiarize them with the scope and possibilities of the Madrid audiovisual industry and the city as a filming location, establishing synergies for the future. Finally, in the evening, the municipal office will organize, together with Iberseries & Platino Industria, the closing cocktail of the market. Madrid, the city of series The commitment of the City Council to boost the Madrid audiovisual industry, film tourism, and the city as a major filming location is reflected in the filming and recordings data in the capital provided by Madrid Film Office. Madrid has established itself in recent years as one of the main production centers for content in Europe, with an annual increase in projects filmed in the city. International platforms such as Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+ have established their offices and production centers here. This commitment has also been reinforced at the national level by platforms and broadcasters such as Movistar+, RTVE, Atresmedia, and Mediaset. In 2022, the city of Madrid hosted over 66 series, 47 films, and 380 medium and large-scale commercials. This production growth has also led to closer ties with other Ibero-American industries through co-productions with Madrid-based companies or the filming of content developed in Madrid for Latin American markets. This is the case of the series Santo, a Spanish-Brazilian thriller produced by Nostromo Pictures for Netflix, or the miniseries Montecristo, produced by Secuoya Studios and the company of Cuban actor William Levy for the Hispanic streaming platform Vix, owned by the American conglomerate TelevisaUnivision. For this last platform, the series Las pelotaris 1926, produced by The Mediapro Studio, and Los artistas, produced by Isla Audiovisual, have also been made. In addition to being projects driven by Madrid-based companies, all of these titles have been filmed in the city of Madrid and have received the support of Madrid Film Office, which in 2022 provided assistance to over 557 different projects, representing an increase of 39.8% compared to 2021 (when 397 projects were supported). Roadshow organized by ICEX Madrid Film Office has participated in a meeting organized by ICEX Spain Export and Investment with a mission of foreign producers, invited to learn about the strengths of the Spanish audiovisual ecosystem. Organized by Iberseries & Platino Industria, this roadshow will take a delegation of 12 producers from Germany and Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland) through different parts of Spain from today until October 7th, showcasing filming studios, establishing relationships with production service companies, and showcasing the diversity of landscapes and locations available in Spain. In the case of Madrid, participants will be invited to visit the facilities of the costume company Peris Costumes & Digital, the underground tunnels of Calle 30, and to take a panoramic tour of Madrid Río.
