Corría el año 2001 cuando Lluís Alsina, miembro fundador del conjunto catalán Glaucs en 1994, dejara la banda para dedicarse al sector digital tras éxitos como Els Teus Ulls Glaucs o Ho Tornaria a Fer.
Después de años trabajando con empresas como Gestmusic – Endemol, participando en el formato digital de OT 2017, o dirigiendo el departamento digital del FC Barcelona, Alsina saca nuevo trabajo en lo que representa su vuelta a la música.
“Tras más de dos décadas alejado de la composición, necesitaba volver a interpretar música. Han sido meses de mucho trabajo para conseguir los 7 temas instrumentales. La música, sin voz, pertenece al lenguaje universal y conecta directamente con el oyente con independencia de idiomas o cultura. Por eso esta vuelta tenía que ser así” cuenta.
Acoustics se trata de un disco instrumental basado en las diferentes sonoridades de las guitarras, tanto eléctricas como acústicas. El disco, producido por Miquel Sospedra (Amaia Mazoni, Joan Dausà) y grabado en El Local Estudi, ha sido mezclado por Jordi Mora en Del Suono Moretti y masterizado en Abbey Road Studios por George Pesche.
En él se pueden encontrar, también, colaboraciones con Joan Anton Pich con el cello y Marc Clos con percusión y vibráfono.
“El título proviene de la “Acústica” que es la rama de la ciencia física que estudia la producción, transmisión y percepción del sonido a través de las ondas. Una referencia a un ambiente sonoro envolvente que he intentado reproducir en las 7 canciones del disco” explica Alsina.
En realidad, se trata de 4 composiciones originales nuevas (“Peaceful”, “Acoustics”, “Chromatic”, I “Time”), una nueva versión de “Els Teus Ulls Glaucs” la composición original de Jofre Bardagí y Lluís Alsina, con un nuevo arreglo de 2 cellos, “Óleo de Mujer con Sombrero”, una composición de Silvio Rodríquez y “Sense Trampa”, composición de Josep Maria Bardagí.
After two decades away from the music industry, Lluís Alsina is making his return!
Originally rising to success in the 90s with his popular album «Au-Delà des Rêves» («Beyond Dreams»), Lluís Alsina is one of the most noted Catalan musicians of his generation.
The pivotal moment in Alsina’s career arrived in 1996 with the release of «Au-Delà des Rêves». The album was a major success; acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, they heralded it as «a groundbreaking new chapter in Catalan music». The album went on to secure various awards in the Spanish Grammy Awards and the show «Popular Music of Catalonia».
However, in 2000, after a brief hiatus, Lluís Alsina retired from the music industry. He dedicated himself to teaching, composing music for theatre and living the life of a «normal» citizen. It was assumed that he had retired for good.
This assumption was proven false earlier this month when Alsina announced his return to the music scene, much to the surprise of his fans. To mark his return, he will be releasing a brand new album in 2027 entitled «Les murmures du passé» («The Murmurs of the Past»), which promises to take listeners on a journey through Alsina’s twenty-year absence from music.
The music industry stands to benefit immensely from the return of one of its brightest stars. His distinct style of Catalan music has allowed a small but passionate fan base to continue growing over the years; now, with a new album on the horizon, the scope of his reach is sure to expand once again.
The return of Lluís Alsina signifies a much-needed lit of fresh air for an industry that has seen its stars come and go with the shifting of trends. With the imminent release of «Les murmures du passé», the future is looking brighter than ever for Catalonia’s lost musician.
